Lovely Easter weather…..

The weather has been pretty depressing of late, with so much rain, but the Easter weekend gave us some brief respite. So with the sun out and temperatures slightly warmer we headed out to take advantage of the blue skies.

A little walk and some shopping was just the tonic we needed.

Another cracking afternoon…..

It’s always great to welcome back local entertainer Emma Kelsey to the home. All our residents love her and as one of our regular visiting stars, she never fails to put on a great show. There was a lovely atmosphere in the room this week as she took us through several classic songs.

You can’t beat a good old sing and dance – and that’s what our residents certainly did, joining in with the numbers and getting on their feet to showcase their moves. Trust us, they still have them!

What a terrific way to spend an afternoon and we look forward to welcoming Emma back soon.

A great afternoon…..

Our lovely residents at The Valleys recently had a fantastic day celebrating Easter, with Afternoon Tea at John Leggott College. There was a choice of lots of games to play, which everyone joined in with and so we had loads of laughs, and of course a yummy tea for all.

What a great start to Easter celebrations and a great party.

All creatures great and small….

It’s always a fantastic day when Animal Therapy come to visit The Valleys, and this week has been no exception. They brought a fantastic range of animals and assorted creepy crawlies along. Our residents loved meeting them all and seeing how different they felt to touch. It was a fantastic sensory experience for them.

We met a new friend this visit – a leafy bug – see if you can spot him sat with a resident!

Thanks to the guys who came along and gave us such a great time.

The importance of good nutrition and hydration…..

Last week at The Valleys we marked National Nutrition and Hydration week. It’s vitally important that all our residents are properly hydrated at all times, as well as receiving a balanced and nutritious diet. Our kitchen team works hard to achieve this but we also have our trolley service going round the home every day. As well as checking that everyone is eating and drinking well, this a great way to socialise.

It’s great for having a chat with friends while they pick a yummy snack as a treat!

Great entertainment!….

We get some really great entertainers coming to the home and none better than The Entertainment Providers. They treated us to an afternoon of Stars in their Eyes, a selection of greatest hits from across the years. Their performance was great and our residents thoroughly enjoyed joining in and singing along.

They are welcome back anytime!…

Looking forward to Easter….

We can’t wait for Easter to come and we are pleased to announce that The Valleys Easter Raffle is now live! £1 per strip of tickets and all proceeds go to our residents’ activities fund. There are some great prizes – for those of you visiting the home you can take a look at our display in reception.

It’s much better odds than playing the lottery and who wants to win millions anyway? Have some fun and support your local community at the same time.

A lovely service….

Although yesterday’s service was smaller in terms of numbers, it was still just as joyous as always. Easter is fast approaching so there was plenty of discussion about the significance of the festival and the preparations that are being made for it.

Easter is always a busy time in the home and especially for those of the Christian faith who really look forward to this important festival.
