Here at The Valleys Care Home, we’re welcoming June with open arms and sunny smiles! 
We can’t wait to enjoy more warm evenings outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, sharing laughs over BBQs, and of course—treating ourselves to the occasional ice cream! 
Staying hydrated, happy, and entertained is our goal this season—and we’re looking forward to making the most of every day with our wonderful residents.
What an unforgettable evening here in Scunthorpe! Residents, staff, family and friends at The Valleys Care Home were out in full spirit to cheer on our local heroes – Scunthorpe United Football Club – as they toured the town in an open-top bus to celebrate their incredible promotion to The National League! 
Flags were waving, smiles were shining, and the atmosphere was full of pride and joy. It’s moments like these that bring our community together, and we’re so proud to be part of it.

We’re reminding families that mental health is just as important in later life as it is at any other age. For older adults in care homes, emotional well-being can be impacted by loneliness, memory loss, or the transition away from independent living. As family members, your presence, calls, and small gestures can make a huge difference to your loved one’s sense of connection and comfort.
Our team works every day to create a safe, supportive environment where residents feel valued, heard, and emotionally supported. But we couldn’t do this without your involvement acting as a powerful part of that journey.
Today, we’re celebrating our wonderful Krystle, our fantastic receptionist here at The Valleys Care Home.
Krystle is the warm and welcoming face that greets everyone who walks through our doors. She goes above and beyond every day—supporting visitors, assisting with enquiries, and offering exceptional care and attention to all.
Her dedication, professionalism, and kind nature make her an invaluable part of our team, and we are truly grateful for everything she does.

Last week, we came together in the sunshine to honour VE Day with a truly special celebration. Residents, families, and staff shared a beautiful afternoon filled with laughter, enjoyment and remembrance.
Our garden came to life with the smell of a sizzling BBQ and the sound of laughter and conversation, as loved ones gathered to mark this meaningful occasion. It was a day that reminded us of the importance of togetherness and the simple joy of being in each other’s company.
A big thank you to Rochelle for providing such wonderful entertainment — the singalong was a highlight that brought smiles to every face.
We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so memorable.
Today, we join the nation in marking VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) — a day to honour the end of World War II in Europe and to remember the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served and lived through it.
At The Valleys Care Home, our residents will be taking time to reflect, share memories, and commemorate this significant moment in history together.
The residents at The Valleys loved having some very special visitors over the weekend.
Animals and reptiles of all shapes and sizes came ot the home to entertain us. From cuddly and furry to feathered and scaly – the range of textures was amazing.
Residents really enjoyed interacting with all the different creatures and it was lovely to see everyone getting involved! Now everybody is asking when they will all return for another Pet Therapy session!
This morning, our residents enjoyed a lively session of exercises and games out in the garden — making the most of the fresh air and morning sunshine.
It’s always wonderful to see smiles, laughter, and movement as we start the day with positivity and energy. A big thank you to our team for creating such a fun and uplifting atmosphere!

You can’t have Easter without the Easter Bunny – and that was certainly true at The Valleys over the weekend.
Our very own version of said Bunny made a fantastic appearance and delighted everyone. She gave out lots of lovely eggs – which it has to be said didn’t last long.
As you can see from the photos there were lots of laughs, and ‘Bunny’ made it a lovely weekend for all.
