What a Spectacular Evening!….

Residents at The Valleys had a fantastic time recently at the Lakeside Community Light Switch On! We were more than proud to host the delicious selection of food trucks and the gorgeous Alpacas, as everyone enjoyed getting out and taking part in the festivities and getting into the Christmas spirit.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening for everyone as they looked at all of the beautiful lights that have been put up around our community. Christmas has well and truly come to The Valleys!

Christmas Is Coming….

At this time of year, all our lovely residents and staff at The Valleys start to get excited about the Christmas festivities that are just around the corner. Baubles are being dusted down, the scent of spice is in the home, and trees and lights are appearing. There’s even a suggestion that Santa will be paying us a visit at some stage.

He may even share a mince pie with us! What’s not to like?

Congratulations Alice….

Everyone at The Valleys was thrilled today when our Manager, Alice, got formal recognition from CQC that she has become the Registered Manager.

This is a testament to all her hard work and commitment to achieving the required standards and skills. We think Alice is a wonderful Manager and we are sure this will give her the confidence to do great things at the home.

Well done Alice!

The day was filled with Pudsey themed activities and attire, safe to say it was very enjoyable and for a good cause.

Thank you to everyone who helped and got involved, If you took part we hope you had a fantastic Friday.

Fantastic Visitors!…..

Residents at The Valleys thoroughly enjoyed a visit from a couple of feathered friends recently, as we welcomed two gorgeous Parrots into the home. Everyone had a wonderful time in their company, both feeding and petting them with smiles on all of their faces and learning more about these beautiful birds throughout their time with us.

It was incredible witnessing them being so friendly to everyone – we all had a truly fantastic time!

Delicious Food and Creativity….

Here at The Valleys, we had many wonderful Remembrance Day activities at the home. One of these was when our residents spent some time altogether creating some gorgeous poppies to be put on display around the home for the week. These creations were all made out of coloured paper and were a wonderful addition to our tribute to the fallen.

To give them the energy to create these masterpieces, we had a variety of sweet and savoury treats on offer throughout the day so they could snack whilst they worked – something which everyone did with big smiles on their faces which was lovely to see!

Paying Our Respects…..

Here at The Valleys, our lovely residents have enjoyed having the opportunity over the last week, and particularly over the weekend, to honour the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country. The home has been adorned with poppies, flags, and a wide variety of remembrance decorations, which residents enjoyed contributing to by making their own poppies to be displayed around the building.

As part of our Remembrance Day activities we had a fantastic performance from the Vintage Vocalist – which took everyone back many years and recalled sounds and memories from their youth.

Everyone loved being able to join in with the singing and there was some dancing in the home as well, as residents marked the day with spirit. They were determined that the heroes of the past would not be forgotten.

Lest We Forget……

Ever since the end of the First World War, the Armistice that ended those hostilities has been marked at the 11th hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

For the past week residents in our homes have been marking these occasions and will no doubt be watching with interest today. For many of them it rekindles personal memories and events of their life.

We will be doing everything we can to help them in this act of remembrance, and will be holding services and showing broadcasts throughout the weekend. It is important that we don’t forget the sacrifice of others, particularly at a time when hostilities are forming so much of a part in our daily news.

We hope you will join with us, and our residents in marking these important occasions.

Enjoying Bonfire Night!

Last night, our lovely residents celebrated Bonfire Night here at The Valleys Care Home.

We had homemade mock sparklers, and some super warming and luscious hot chocolate whilst we watched the local fireworks light up the sky. There’s nothing like enjoying a colourful display from the comfort and safety of your armchair, surrounded by great company.

All our residents really enjoyed themselves so they are determined to keep their eyes peeled this weekend when other displays will be taking place locally.

We hope you enjoyed seeing the fireworks where you lived last night.
