Here at The Valleys we thoroughly enjoyed Mother’s Day. We had a Strawberry and Cream Tea which was truly scrumptious. Thanks so much to our kitchen team for making it so special. This was followed by an Arts and Crafts session where we made lots of things for people to keep and treasure. It was a lovely afternoon, and terrific to see so many families coming to join in the celebrations.

We hope you enjoyed Mother’s Day as much as we did here.

The Valleys welcomed a special dog this week. Therapy dog Jack, who is currently undergoing training, came to visit our residents, who fell in love with him straight away. He’s so soft & cuddly, and was very well behaved. As you can see from the pictures he made himself right at home and was welcomed into the home by everyone.

He interacted so well with our residents that they said he was welcome back any time.

Mother’s Day is always a special day in the Calendar, and no more so than this year. Many of us won’t be able to be with our Mums today but that doesn’t mean we aren’t thinking of them and sending them our love.

They may be Mums who are sadly no longer with us, Mums who are nurses, carers and doctors working hard to keep us safe, Mums looking after us at home, or they may even be isolating because of the current situation – trying to keep themselves and others well. Wherever they may be and whatever they may be doing, here is a big shout out to all of them.

Mums really do make the world go round and today is their day!

Let’s celebrate all Mums, you are all much loved and cherished, and let’s hope they can stay safe, well and happy today .

Residents here at The Valleys made a short trip recently to visit the lovely students of St Peter & St Paul’s School. We all had a great afternoon celebrating world book day and reading through some books hand-picked by the students!

They were all amazing and our residents had a fantastic time – we hope to see them again soon.

The new month looks like it’s going to be a busy one, with plenty going on – starting with St David’s Day today. Everything will go green for St Patrick’s Day, always a fun time and then we have Mother’s Day, where we celebrate fabulous Mums everywhere. We wrap up the month with Good Friday and the Easter weekend – time for an egg hunt or two!

On top of these celebrations, we will have lots going on at our home throughout the month, with lots of games and activities for our residents to enjoy. It certainly looks like being a busy and fun time for us all.

The Valleys was delighted to welcome the lovely Rochelle recently. She gave our residents a great afternoon of entertainment, singing and dancing.

Plenty of them wanted to join in and the room was full of fun and laughter. A really wonderful time was had by all, and we look forward to welcoming Rochelle back soon.

Some of our wonderful care staff joined the Acting Manager for a seminar at Kettle of Scunthorpe & Brigg to gain a better understanding of the role of a Funeral Director. Here at The Valleys, we are always pushing ourselves into new training opportunities that will help our staff go the extra mile!

A happy Valentine’s Day to everyone today. Have you received a card yet? Perhaps a bunch of red roses is winging its way to you as we speak! Well, whether or not you receive something, it’s an important day to tell the special people in your life how much you love them – and saying I love you is much more important than all the cards and roses ever could be…although they are nice as well!

We hope everyone has a great day no matter what you are doing, and spend it with people who you love.

Here at The Valleys we will be sure to make all our residents feel very loved and wanted on this special day.

From everyone here at The Valleys, happy pancake day! Our residents will all be indulging in some sweet treats today, there will be a wide variety of toppings picked and we are sure that each one will be unique – it is sure to be a delightful day!

Here at The Valleys, our sapphire unit wrapped up their make and create sessions over the weekend. They each creating lots of little figures out of play-doh as well as colouring in a range of art such as clown fish and bunnies – each coming with their own fact file about the animal.

This has been such a fun way to spend time with our residents and we can’t wait to do more in the future!
