Proud of our kitchen team……

Here’s a picture of a very proud team at the moment. They have been given a top 5 star rating for their food hygiene and couldn’t be more pleased. They work fantastically hard every day to make terrific meals for our residents, always putting in a lot of love and dedication to everything they prepare.

So it’s fitting that their professionalism has also been noticed in this way. We are very lucky to have them and couldn’t be prouder!

Celebrating St Patrick’s Day …….

Here at The Valleys we had fabulous fun on St Patrick’s Day. It was a day full of fancy dress, lots of wearing green and fun Irish facts. In fact fun and laughter were the key elements of the day, especially when we played Find the Leprechaun who was running around the building.

We had a prize for best dressed team member – well done to carer Mercedes, the prize was a pot of chocolate with golden coins. Families joined in the fun which was lovely to see.

A great day all round.

Enjoying Mother’s Day…

Our new Daycare centre was put to great use on Mother’s Day, as several of our residents and their loved ones spent time pottery painting. This was followed by a scrummy afternoon tea – many thanks to our kitchen angels who gave us all such a great spread.

It was a lovely way to get people together to enjoy the day.

Looking forward to Mother’s Day…

Our residents here at The Valleys have been spending time talking about Mothers Day and how mother figures come in all different shapes and sizes. We’ve talked about wives, daughters, granddaughters, aunts, nans – the list kept going, such was the diversity of mother figures in people’s lives. For some remembering Mums no longer with them can be sad but sharing memories makes that easier. We made lots of cards for the day as well which will be shared around the home.

We hope you are looking froward to Mother’s Day.

Lovely Praise…..

Here at The Valleys we love hearing from family members about the positive experiences that their loved ones have had at the home. We always strive to make our residents feel as at home as possible, and this is achieved only through the hard work and dedication of our staff. So when we get reviews and feedback like this from Denise it lets us know that what we are doing is making someone’s life better and our efforts are worthwhile. It puts smiles on all of our faces.

Thank you Denise!

Creature comforts…..

Here at The Valleys our residents love it when we welcome animals into the home. The tactile and sensory experience can be very comforting for them. Our little animal buddies visited again recently and we’ve got to say Lily the corn snake was a major hit. She was very cheeky and kept trying to get in everyone’s pockets!

Lots of fun for everyone!

Inspiring us all…..

The care sector simply wouldn’t function without the amazing efforts of the women who work in it. They devote themselves to the care of others, and each and every one of them deserves our gratitude and respect. As a care home we see the impact on our residents of their professionalism and compassion every day.

Today is International Women’s Day and we would like to take this opportunity to pay respect to all the female members of our staff team. We are proud to celebrate the amazing women who work here and make our care home a warm and welcoming place for everyone.

Good luck Gemma….

It was with both happy and sad faces here at The Valleys when we had to say goodbye to our senior carer, Gemma, recently. She is off to start the adventure that is parenthood. We hope her birth goes smoothly, and we can’t wait to see her and her little one when they come and visit.

She has been a great member of staff and we wish her well.

Building relationships…..

Here at The Valleys we love finding ways to build friendships between our residents. Two of our residents bonded recently when helping us get the garden renovations started – out with the old pots and furniture in with the new! We also continue fostering those friendships inside with a few games.

Tic-tac-toe & shape sorting are great ways to keep the mind active & the hands moving, without the game being overwhelming, and there is plenty of interaction between our residents – perfect for keeping friendships going!
